Project overview

A landmark development on Lake Albert.

The Kingfisher Development Area is located southeast of Lake Albert in Kikuube District. It is one of Uganda’s key oil and gas developments and includes the Kingfisher field, with provision for future tie-in of the Mputa–Nzizi–Waraga fields.

The development is designed around a Central Processing Facility with capacity for 40,000 barrels of oil per day, 31 wells drilled from four well pads, flowlines linking the field to the CPF, and a feeder pipeline connecting Buhuka to the export hub and refinery at Kabaale, Hoima District.

Project infrastructure

A compact production system from field to export.

Kingfisher integrates four well pads, flowlines, a Central Processing Facility, Lake Albert water abstraction and a feeder pipeline into one connected production system.

01

Four well pads

Thirty-one wells, including 11 injectors and 20 producers, are planned across four well pads.

02

Field flowlines

Nineteen kilometres of flowlines connect the Kingfisher well pads and production areas to the CPF.

03

Central Processing

The Central Processing Facility is designed for peak processing capacity of 40,000 barrels of crude oil per day.

04

Feeder pipeline

A 46-kilometre, 12-inch feeder pipeline links the CPF in Buhuka to the export hub and refinery at Kabaale.

Engineering & delivery

Designed for a demanding lakeside setting.

Kingfisher combines offshore well development, onshore processing and supporting infrastructure around Lake Albert.

Offshore drilling

Specialised drilling supports production and injection wells in the Lake Albert development area.

Central processing

The CPF consolidates field production and prepares crude for onward transportation.

Field support

Water abstraction, camps, materials yard, jetty and access roads support project operations.
